5 of the Best Restaurants Near Helston! Guaranteed to Satisfy the Foodie in You!

What’s on, my Ansome?

A top meal out is always a highlight of a holiday. But with so many restaurants around, dinner can be hit or miss when you’re in an unfamiliar area. In times like these, when budgeting is more important than ever, a tip from those in the know is like gold dust!

Luckily, we’re here to help! We’d consider ourselves to be a family of foodies, and we’ve got years of experience working in the kitchen and in catering. We know good scran! So we’re more than happy to lend you a hand.

In today’s post, you’re going to learn about 5 great restaurants near Helston! If you’re not hungry now… you will be soon!

Let’s crack on.

1. The Crate

It would be remiss of us to start anywhere else but the on-site cafe at Roselidden House Camping, The Crate! As mentioned previously, the owner here at Roselidden is an experienced caterer and the Crate is a passion project that we’re very proud of!

If you’re looking for the best breakfast to start your day, or you want to pick up some homemade freshly baked treats for lunch or a picnic basket, please head on over to the Crate. We’ll sort you right out!

As well as our breakfast baps and locally sourced pasties, we have a range of cakes which vary from week to week, so you’ll always have something new to try. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!

2. Henly’s Bar and Restaurant

Visit the website

Located a short drive away from Roselidden on Helston’s main street, Henly’s is one of the premier spots to hit if you’re looking for a night out in Helston! They have a wide range of dishes that’ll be sure to satisfy the tastebuds of anyone in your party. The menu features top quality local produce and is priced very reasonably!

And if you feel like carrying the night on after your meal, pop downstairs to Henly’s bar! They make a mean cocktail that’ll definitely cap your night out off in the right way.

3. Boo Koos

If you’re looking for something filthy, Boo Koos is just across the road from Henly’s and will absolutely hit the spot!

The founders met while working in a restaurant in Texas, and were inspired to bring those flavours with them on their return to England. You’ll not find a better burger or hot dog anywhere in the county! (Except Falmouth, where they have another location…)

Just make sure you account for the sit down you’re going to need after polishing off one of these monsters!

4. The Cove

A true hidden gem of a restaurant! Maenporth cove is home to one of the most naturally beautiful beaches in Cornwall, at the bottom of a windy country road off the beaten track.

The Cove restaurant and bar have produced fantastic British food for years, and now under the supervision of famed chef Michael Caines is only reaching new heights. If you’re looking to treat yourselves, then you’d be hard pressed to do better than booking a table here!

It’s a bit of a trek from the campsite, though, so make sure you account for that when making your transport arrangements!

5. Kota

We’ve written about this place previously, but it’s so good we wanted to shout it out again!

If you visit our local area, the one restaurant you can’t miss is Kota, in Porthleven.

Kota is helmed by chef Jude Kereama, who previously won the right to represent the South West on the BBC’s Great British Menu. Harden’s named it in their list of the 100 best UK Restaurants in 2022!

The local produce down here in Cornwall is already some of the best in the country. Combine the stellar produce with a top drawer chef, and a dash of Asian heritage, and you get a dining experience you’ll never forget!

And, as a bonus, it’s located in the beautiful little fishing port of Porthleven! It’s a perfect place to work off the food with a post-meal walk. Make sure you don’t miss this one!

We said you’d be hungry… time to eat!

So there you have it, folks. Our recommendations for the best restaurants near Helston. We have sampled the riches at all of them many times and promise you they won’t disappoint!

We’d love to hear which restaurant tickles your fancy! Where do you want to go first?
